The Gonzales Area
The 100% non-smoking La Quinta Inn & Suites Gonzales is located in the quaint Texas city of Gonzales as it is located along Interstate 10 and Highway 183 and centrally positioned between San Antonio and Houston. This city was named after Rafael Gonzales, the governor of Coahuila Y Tejas and was formally known as the Dewitt Colony.
Gonzales is known for being called "Lexington of Texas" since it was the beginning of the Texas Revolution. Most of the citizens moved away immediately thereafter, but saw the population come back and rebuild on the original site throughout the 1840's. Major growth of the city can be attributed to the arrival of various immigrants in the 19th century.
Today, Gonzales is known for a leader in the agribusiness, oil industry , light manufacturing, and tourism.
